God is the Giver of All, but Man as the measure of all 'thinks and things' can judge without love - as if to tell reality what it should be, and suffer the conflict as a sense of exclusion.
The gist of my post to your predicament is the give the 'world' to God, instead of fighting evils AS IF to gain or boost a sense of worthiness thereby. That we can react from a sense of self-lack is the 'gaslighting' of a capacity to compare ourselves with others -that is to judge our self in others. War on life runs in minds that act out on bodies and world, as if to save a self from feared and thus misperceived outcomes.
Let the dead bury the dead applies to the worship of dead concept and its blind followers, but to align in and with the living is to give honour where it is due. This is nothing to do with 'persons' or masking of personae, but the gift that your Brother holds for you.
The revelation of love rises from the release of vested self illusions. Perhaps when their cost in pain of life becomes intolerable, insane or meaningless to an awareness that CAN now question the voice that tells it it is unworthy of love, and must mask in re-presentations of life.
