I had a few run-ins with a few of Dugin's lapdogs more than a decade ago as well as many of his detractors, one of whom was a genuine scholar who wanted to sue him for defamation. Never bought into his "intellectual" flummery. But here are some points to consider though they could be dated:

1) Dugin is a transactionalist. He drifted from being a Communist ultra to an ultranationalist (more Neo-Nazi than nationalist) to an Orthodox supremacist (though he claims to be an Old Believer).

2) His Eurasianism remains Eurocentric. The Asian part is only added as a footnote to serve Russian (and Zionist) oligarchic interests. Name me one prominent Asian scholar who takes him seriously? Maybe, a sucker or two in Pakistan but not China. You'd think a man like him would be giving lectures in Iran to bolster Tehran's ongoing propaganda war against the West.

3) Dugin's acolytes are either hopelessly naive or have suspect fealties. They have caused untold schisms in various camps - something I suspect continues till today.

4) I had noticed that hardline Western ideologues and trolls alike, along with their flagship propaganda outlets, avoid attacking Dugin - cept in a fleeting, perfunctory manner - even as they attack less prominent individuals and writers. Why?

There is one more, highly-charged question I wanted to add but maybe I will save it for later. Then again, I wonder if it's worth it.

I do not think about Dugin, but just to have a the possibility to share our ideas.

To your point 2 - apparently Dugin is a “senior research fellow” at Fudan University. Mind you this is Shanghai, which I understand is quite a different matter than if he held a similar post elsewhere in China.

Thanks, Adrian. Let us start our comunication. We need to cooperare.

Thanks for the feedback. I am not surprised. As I stated earlier, my observations "could be dated." My last interaction (if one could call it that) with the Dugin network was over 10 years ago. It would make perfect sense for Beijing to get additional insight into Kremlin's warped thinking, and simultaneously map out the network Dugin controls, by offering him a fellowship. My suspicions since then haven't changed -- The Washington and Kremlin hierarchies are in bed together.

Dear Dr. Mathew Maavak, I really appreciate your comment. I will be happy to have an exchange of messages and maybe to coopérate in the nearest future. I hope to come back home one day and then to relaunch my Chișinău Forum project.

Sure. Bear in mind that this is a depressing subject but yes, we can keep in touch. Send me a DM - Matt

Iurie it is interesting to see how people become "resources", to be stewarded in what you obviously viewed as an academic environment which views ideas as the "resource".

Thanks for your comment.

Thank you Mister Rosca. I remember that podcast you recorded with Youssef Hindi and Gearóid Ó Colmáin years ago in French. You were already pointing out the not so perfect nature of the current Russian Foreign Policy. But fortunately, the english-speaking “dissidence” based in Western Asia has remained very wise and has never engaged in blind pro-Russian cheerleading. I’m not saying that Russia is bad, Russia is Russia and it deserves some of its reputation as a banana state with an important liberal component Kirill Dmitriev and it’s still a great - though imperfect or even blameworthy - relief for middle powers to have Russia’s support, even though the system has its great share of dirty politics. Karine Bechet-Golovko has openly mentionned the liberal tendency in Russian elites, the likes of Kirill Dmitriev who only dream of signing a deal with the Americans to go back to their pre-war life, without economic sanctions. Many will portray it as an internal fight within Russia, but I think it has contaminated the society, and Putin too. I am not sure whether Alain Soral, Xavier Moreau, or Eva Bartlett point this out, because they probably can’t afford upset Moscow but at least Vanessa Beeley openly criticised Russia.
